SECAB for me: owner-occupiers

All residents, regardless of their tenure or background, will be able to benefit from and contribute towards the SECAB project.

As an owner-occupier, you get to experience the two sides of the SECAB coin:

  • Being responsible for the decisions we make and the financial cost of them
  • Being able to benefit personally from the new experience of the back green and other improvements

  1. As a house owner for 20 years + and at the rear of 7 Cadiz Street I would love to see the removal of the rubbish and debris from the back area but I remember a number off years ago P.O.L. proposed the same thing but as usual I’m still waiting, I will be happy to contribute to the fund if it’s feasible

    1. Hi Willie,

Thanks for getting in touch. Could you fill in the contact form or send an email or text so I can share more info?

I think previous attempts have failed because it was seen as a charity/voluntary activity. Only a few people are ever going to be keen to do that. Even if some people would do it, they won’t if they know that other people will be able to freeload on their hard work.

With all the owners on board (possibly forcibly, with the Tenements Act) we can contract the difficult or unpleasant sides of maintenance to professionals. Then people can choose to do more fun things like potting plants. At worst, the area will be clean and safe for people to use. At best, it’ll be filled up with all the nice activities people want to do.

  2. Yes Mark, as an owner-occupier I would be happy to contribute to the cost of the back yard area improvement. Good luck, and thanks for taking the initiative.
